Wow, I just realized it’s been 364 days since my last post. Since that time, I have become and father and changed jobs. Life is very different now than it was, but in a good way.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if America has fallen apart the way you envisioned when Obama was elected. I’m an Obama supporter, but genuinely interested in your perspective.

Garrett,
Sort of. The momentum of government has increased astronomically; the size of government debt expanding far faster than I could have imagined. Enormous amounts of damage have been dealt to the American spirit and the American economy.
However, people are also more wary of the government than they have been in a long time and I believe that Obama has been good for us in that it has reminded us of what we hate: dependency, apathy and laziness (intellectual, and otherwise). All of these things are symbolized by Obama. His continual assurance that he will somehow make things right. His dismissal of opposing ideas. The way he rants against something while he is doing exactly what he claims to hate. His is a terrible leader and has become increasingly transparent. Because of this, the overt cynicism cast over all of government is the best thing that has happened in American politics in a long time. The government should fear the people, and it looks like this is finally being set right.
